Papillion Potpourri meets Christmas

Good Afternoon All

Hope you're all well and well on the way to preparing for Christmas!  It will soon be upon us, will sneak up on us without us even realising.

Today's class was such fun, we made our last Christmas card of the year and also a birthday card, combining a few stamp sets and using butterflies for Christmas, why not I say they are beautifull after all and that went well with the wording on today's Christmas card.

We used a few different techniques in class today and some were more adventurous with their cards, stepping away from my example in small ways, always lovely to see the confidence of these class members as my cards are after all just the example.  We did some masking and stencilling for the birthday card and used our dies for the Christmas card to make a frame - all good fun and requiring just a little concentration.

Take a peak and let me know what you think!

Sugar Cookies

Good Evening All

Hope you've had a good weekend and are ready for the week ahead.

I thought that I'd show you some of the sugar cookies that I made for the fair on Thursday, they went down a treat and that was despite the fact that I had no sample, as my husband had eaten it!  How rude!

I thoroughly enjoyed making both the cookies and the toppers for them, they got many admiring looks and were nearly all gone by the end of the night.

Greenhouse Garden.....retiring:-(

Good Afternoon All

Hope you've had a fab weekend.  I know that I have and it all started with a lovely craft class yesterday morning where the ladies had lots of fun and laughter whilst doing their projects!

We used one of my favourite stamp set's which is retiring, Greenhouse Garden!  Clearly, since it's one of my favourites I'll still continue to use it but thought that I'd showcase it along with some of the lovely new buttons and ribbon sliders from the NEW Autumn/Winter Catalogue

We made a gift box and slider card, which tested some patience and meant that my class had to listen to me for............oh, at least 10 seconds of the 2 hours.  Give them their due, they did manage to listen for this length of time! Well done ladies your projects were all PERFECT!

We all had a lovely time in class yesterday which did not involve that much stamping to be honest yet we created a beautifull card and gift box set using the gorgeous beyond the garden papers and the beautifull wings embosslit die. We did a little faux stitching, using the mat pack and paper piercing tool to add a little more interest to the card.

All About Flowers (Build a blossom & Manhatten Flower)

Good Morning All

Hope you're having a good weekend so far, I'm watching the clouds and living in hope that it's not going to rain today, however this may well be wishfull thinking but will water the flowers.

Yesterday we had a lovely class and it was all about flowers for both cards.  The first of our cards was a "simple" pop up card using the Build a Blossom stamp set and punch.  I say simple but that's because it only had one central pop-up element inside, to deal with instead of a few.  This card did take some time to construct though with all bits used.

For our second card we used the Manhatten Flower embossing folder.  We encorporated dry and heat embossing on this one using the vanilla embossing powder and then painted in the flower which is ever so pretty.

Take a look and let me know what you think.

Funky Forest and Trendy Trees

Good Afternoon Blog land!

Well, I'm afraid that it's a case of "better late than never" as they say.  I'm running quite behind, been a busy, busy week or two and just not found the time to publish last weeks class pics.

We used a lovely little stamp set and wheel, one that everyone always remarks on as being a very sweet little two-step set, which indeed it is!  It was absolutely perfect for our paper stack project!

We used the funky forest wheel around the edge of the paper-stack box and then used the Trendy Trees stamp set and the funky forest wheel alternately on each piece of paper.  This little project would be perfect next to the telephone for those quick notes or numbers that we need to write down in a hurry.  We also made a lid from vellum (you could use acetate to see through), so that it could be given as a little gift.

The Open Sea and Creative Elements

Good Afternoon all

Hope you're all well.  I've been away for a while, went to Egypt for some much needed sunshine and returned to more rain in the UK! Great!  I have my passport at the ready.............now where to go.

I could perhaps sail away on the gorgeous ship from today's more masculine, gate fold,  card that we made in class today.  Wow, what a gorgeous stamp set.  Perfect for any travel adventure.

Our second card used Creative Elements, another beautifull set.  This caused a bit of a stir in class as I told everyone to SMELL my card.............think they thought I'd gone bonkers!  Nope, in fact we used some of the lovely vanilla embossing powder and although not quite "rights" for flowers, should maybe have considered the cherry one instead - it turned out very well indeed.

Fancy Flower punch, card in a box

Good Afternoon All

Hope  you're all well and enjoying your weekends so far.

Today's class was a card in a box.  Yip, we used the fancy flower punch and for that it's really nice if you're able to give your card away in a box made specifically for it to showcase the raised flower. Everyone really enjoyed making this card and each had their own specific use for it, one a birthday, one a wedding and yet another just for someone special.  This made each card individual in the end, as the sentiment and placement of parts were all different.

Anniversary card and something a little British!

Good Afternoon All

Well, it's been a busy, busy week - been great but that's meant that I've not had the time to post last week's class makes till today!

We did two cards the first was an anniversary card, by request.  I'm always up for doing something that any of my class members want to do.  Makes it more interesting for me to see if I can come up with something suitable.

Our second card was something a little British and more suited for the weekend just coming up.  The Queen's Diamon Jubilee weekend and boy is it going to be a good weekend, there is lots of Great British Spirit in our area with bunting and flags on many of the houses and pubs.

Hope you're all well, had a good weekend and start to the week.  It's a very wet day outside here in Shropshire today and I'm pretty sure I see some sleet coming down with that rain - must be seeing things, it's May for goodness sake!

Anyway, onto Saturday's class projects which in fact had NOT STAMPING!  Yes that's true, Stampin' Up! have loads of gorgeous products other than stamps and we used the Beautifull wings embosslit die and the gorgeous Beyond the garden DSP and a few "fancy folds" to compliment such beautifull products.

We did a card and gift box set, these always go down a treat as it's so lovely to give a matching card and gift.

Paper weaving, spice cake and Vintage...........

Morning All

What a soggy old day outside in Shropshire UK today!  It's said that we're in drought but our garden is rather squiggy at present.  Oh well, we do need the rain.

Yesterday's class was fab, everyone had a great time, well............they did really after I'd managed to keep them quiet for a while with some paper weaving as they had to concentrate!  I'd never heard the class that quiet before.  Something different to try and the result is gorgeous.

We also did a vintage card, using some of the gorgeous SU vintage inspired products.

All a flutter, with punches & Medallion Stamp

Good Evening All

Hope you're all well.  What a gorgeous day it's been today, yes there have been some showers and a little wind about but we've had a fantastic day here in Shifnal today, not least because we had a fab class this morning which was greatly enjoyed by one and all.

For our first card, all a flutter with punches we used 3 different punches to create the shapes and two embossing folders for the patterns along with the stampin' pastels.  Very pretty end result.

Our second card was done using acetate and the medallion stamp.  Now we've never used acetate in class before so some found it a bit of a challenge and are not sure that they'll want to use it again but that's what coming to class is all about - learning new things and "stepping out of the box".

Hope you enjoy looking at our cards as much as we all enjoyed making them:

Scrapbooking!!

Good Afternoon All

Well, it's not often that you hear me say that word but yes we did some scrapbooking in class today.  We did make card as a warm up and introduction to the world of papercrafts for my new lady today but then it was on to PLAY TIME.

Scrapbooking is such an individual thing but absolutely absorbing and enjoyable, so much so that when it was time for class to end - nobody noticed! I "prepared" or rather enjoyed a few pages myself as samples for class and I used one of the gorgeous 6" x 6" ring albums to keep my memories in, such super little albums and they can hold loads of pages.....................so watch this space, more scrapbooking could be on the cards.

Spiced Paisley Gift set

Good Evening All

Well, it's been a wonderfully crafty day for me today and I've enjoyed every minute of it.  Just wish all days's were like that really.  I've even purchased a mini sewing machine for my cardmaking projects you understand as I dont sew.  My friend Elaine came with me and although she's convinced that she'll get me into sewing, I'm not so sure so a mini machine is perfect for me and I may even have a dabble with some of the gorgeous SU fabrics............who knows, there could be a budding seamstress inside me.

We had a fab class this morning, the class was full so there was much chatter going on which was fantastic, so much so that I'm surprised that any of the attendants found the time to listen to me at all,  but they must have as they all left with two lovely projects in their hands and a smile on their face - who could ask for more from 2 hours on a Saturday morning?!

I've been having a bit of a play over the last few days with some of the simply adorned products and WOW!  They are gorgeous, individual and so versatile.

I've been playing with the Charming set and the Simply adorned charm 2.5 x 3.2cm along with some of the trinket keys, take a peak at the results.  I certainly dont think  that the photo does it justice.....you'd need to see it "in the flesh" so to speak...................then again, I could have changed it by then to create another individual piece.

Create a Cupcake and Valentines

Good Afternoon from a very snowy and icy Shifnal

Yes, that's a very odd sounding title of Cupcakes and Valentines but that's what we did today.  Firstly we did a birthday card using the really cute stamp set Creat a Cupcake, a really pretty card with some flowers and a bit of layering - crisp and clean today for both cards actually.  No distressing or daubing the edges of the cards, most unusual for me and my classes but I loved the outcome of both as did everyone at class!

For the Create a Cupcake card we did some embossing with two of the gorgeous SU embossing folders and made the flowers using the 1 3/4" scallop circle punch, done by cutting the scallp circle into a spiral, squishing the cardstock and then rolling up to form the beautifull flowers.  The wording was shaped using the decorative label punch and then that same punch used as a layer behind, just chopping out a bit.  Very clever and very good use of punches to make other things and create different effects.

Stamp set used: Create a Cupcake
Embossing folders used: Square lattice & Perfect Polka Dots
Punches used: 1 3/4" scallop circle & Decorative Label

For the Valentines card we did very little stamping but lots of punching and embossing.  My husband might even be lucky enough to get a Valentines card this year and he'll probably not see it before then anyway as he does not usually browse my blog (to my knowledge anyway) or notice specific cards in my card stash.  Besides all the SU goodies we used a very old pair of pinking shears that used to belong to my grand mother.  I'm so pleased to have these to use again, my parents brought them over to the UK for me from SA on their last visit, by request and because nobody at home was using them, yayy!

For the inside of this card we used the same technique as the flowers of the first card (without the squishing) for the heart effect, attaching two hearts together forming a "spring" - very effective and unusual.
Stamp set used: Tiny Tags
Embossing folders used: Vintage Wallpaper & Perfect polka dots
Punches used: Jewelry Tag & Full Heart
